ok earlier today we were adding radiator fluid because i had a small leak in one of the hoses, so we just added water to see where it was coming from, the car ran fine didnt overheat or anything drove to local pep boys and back. my friend leaves and about an hour later i go to leave and the car wont start! it just attempting to start, so i open the hood, just wiggle some stuff around, and try and start again it starts but immediately dies. i try it again and it starts and idle real real low about 500rpms where it used to be around 8-900 i cant even rev the car, the rpms wont even go up like they are suppose to. i decide to just drive around the block, to see wtf happend, and the car has no power at all rpms drop to like 200, so i pull back in the driveway and there is white smoke billowing out of the tailpipes, and i shut the car off and then i see smoke coming from under the hood so i open the hood and there is a burning smoke smell and i can see smoke coming from the accessories.

what happend?? please this is my only vehicle it was running ok before, did something get wet inside? please help me

here is a pic, cant really capture the smoke on my cell phone but its there

Where in FL are you? Are you sure a hose was leaking or your water pump? When the water pump leaks it gets fluid on the crank positioning sensor and wigs it out and will not allow it to start in many cases. Yours can be shorted out and not sending the correct signal to the ECU.
White smoke from the tail pipes normally indicates you have water in the intake/heads and is exiting the through the exhaust valves though. I would not run the car again until you verify no water in the oil... i.e. blowh head gasket which are not too common in these cars.

Have you done a 60k yet? I briefly looked over your profile and you asked about one in a post. Most of us are in Brevard and Indian River County due east of you.

no i haven't, I've only had the car since the end of November. nothing major like this has happened im guessing when i was putting water in the radiator from the hose something else might have gotten wet? could that be a possibility? because i am freaking out right now cuz this is my job and everything else right here if i don't have a car

Not likely. What is the mileage on your SHO? Have you pulled any of the plug wires off the spark plugs to see if there is oil in the wells? Which hose is your problem?
I'd like to help and am only an hour or so away but need more info.

well today it was raining alot over here so we didnt do much other than check the thermostat and the hose lower radiator hose to make sure they held fluid. I have always always had a low coolant light on since ive had the car and no problems, even took it somewhere to get it checked. but i have 135,000 miles on the car right now, and no, i have pulled the plug wires off the spark plugs to see if there is oil in the wells. if you would really like to help it would be greatly appreciated . its just i'm getting worried here.

White smoke out exhaust = blown head gasket 99% of the time. When the car is running (remove the rad cap before you start it) see if you do you have little bubbles coming up in the radiator. If there is, it's a blown head gasket. I pray it is not for your sake because I have been in your position and as stated it is a very rare occurrence with these cars, the only time it happens is when you overheat the car and warp the heads. A blown head gasket on my previous vehicle is actually how I ended up with my atx, go figure I got a sho to replace this pos madza pickup I owned for all of 47 miles before the head gasket blew.

Swap in a new engine, they're cheap especially if you get a 3.0L. I am sure there are guys down there that will help you out. It's not as hard to swap one of these engines as you may think.

Yeah i really don't know anyone down here that knows anything about SHO's here to help me swap a motor, one junkyard down here has an SHO that has a motor intact but i dont know the condition of that one either, and i dont want to take it to a mechanic cuz they would want to charge me thousands of dollars, and its not worth it. i dont have another vehicle, i dont even know how I'm getting to work tomorrow :(

make yourself a thread in the FLSHOC (florida sho club) area of this forum. I promise there's at least three people down there who not only have tools and know-how, but would be more than willing to help a fellow SHO owner out. :thumb:

Yup, buy some beer (not to much it might end up in sideways *RWD SHO FTW!!!*) and soem burgers and have a party. But I doubt you'll even have to pay the ridiculous prices of junkyards, you can probably find someone to get you a decent engine at a decent price and probably help you install it. But if you want, call the yard and ask if they offer a warranty, my local yard offers 30 day warranty's on engines they pull for you.;)

PM me, I do this. Engine swaps are a one day job. I have truck and trailer and can bring it to my shop. 3.2's are not very expensive anymore. I have 2 3.0s but no extra 3.2s though.

Water in your plugs wells? Did you accidentally get water on the valve covers when you were adding some to the radiator or did you let it sit with the hood open overnight? There is normally oil in there when the seals go bad but not water and definitly not if you just blew a head gasket.

I bet thae engine you have in there now, if you pull it, someone is going to rebuild it and bring it back to life.
Good luck bro!

you have coolant going into your motor and burning 1. 2 check your cps and fluid can make it have a fit. and it will act alot like what you are describing. might really wanna check your gaskets though.
