Painted my bumper SHO letters and it looked awsome. Problem came 1 week later when I handwashed the car. Take a look.

I did the letters in two parts. Because of the thin strip in the middle I painted the top first, then the bottom seperately. Why does the top peel and the bottom not?

I also took a 1200 psi presure washer to it to make sure nothing else would flack off before I repaint it. Nothing extra came off.

Any suggestions?

You didn't prep properly.

Yea...it definitly dosent look like the paint is sticking to the plastic too good.

Was the paint you used made to stick to plastic??
Take all the paint off, and clean the crap out of the surface before you re-paint it.

It has nothing to do with it being plastic, your painting on paint, not plastic. You need to degrease the surface and you should really sand (wetsand with 400-600 grit) the area before you paint.

I cleaned with a sponge, a scrub brush, then a dry towel aggressivly scrubbing it.

So at this point how do I remove it to start over, I cant really pick any more off and like I said I pressure washed. I dont know what I should do now.

I used the spray on touch up automotive paint.

Take some mineral spirits and a rag (or some sort of non-abrasive pad) and start scrubbing really hard!

I think most people like myself used the touch up paint pen/brush.

So far mine is holding up well. I just need to do the ones on the side now.

I didn't go any prepping and mine is holding up great from a paint pen. It's been over a year and survived many washings (although I don't spray the letters when I wash) and the winter.
