oil pressure switch connection

is the oil pressure switch connected to anything except the oil idiot light? i was thinking of removing the switch and connecting a real gauge/ sending unit. engine is swapped into a buggy so original oil light is missing.

Looks like it is a single conductor white/red wire that goes straight from the sensor to the indicator.

Ok I have removed the oil sensor switch and installed a fitting for 1/8" line and installed a real oil pressure gauge. Its reading about 60PSI when the car is running. I think I'm good on this now. Thank you for the help!
