My 90 SHO is leaking not burning oil - about a half a quart every 300 miles - it has 149,000 on the clock. It seems to be coming from the oil pan from the front of the motor to the rear and around where it goes near the transmission. The clutch was recently changed and the previous owner told me and showed me the receipt of the new clutch he put in, as well as a new rear main seal. This weekend i'm planning on changing the front crank seal. My question is (and i saw this in the Haynes Manual about oil pan gaskets) how difficult is it to change the oil pan seal, ie. can you do it without taking the motor out? Also, does anyone know the part #'s for the gaskets that come with it? Gracias from California (105 degrees today)

You don't need to pull the motor to reseal the oil pan. You just need to remove the y-pipe, disconect the O2 sensors, remove the starter, a couple other little things. Nothing major though.

I believe the front seal is part # E9DZ-6722-A and the rear seal is part # E9DZ-6723-A. You also need a tube of gasket sealer. You can double check the numbers at http://www.shonutperformance.com/ They sell all kinds of SHO parts and ship pretty quickly.

In the FYI department, be sure to get the type of sealer that will cure between 2 pieces of metal with no air contact. I forget exactly what it's called, but ordinary RTV/silicone sealer will not cure if used to seal up the oil pan.

The oil pan seal can be had cheaper from fel pro. Check the AutoZone website. That's where I ordered mine.

Black RTV is made specifically for this purpose.

Might as well do rod bearings too. The AZ/FelPro kit comes with two small tubes of black rtv, but I bought a big tube and used the entire tube.
