Hi all, longtime lurker with a question. I did a search, but I didn't see this question being asked, so please forgive me if this has been asked. I was browsing a site that claims to sell OEM Ford parts, and I looked up the oil pan for an '89 MTX SHO, and it sure looked like the oil pan for a Vulcan V6. Back sump vs center sump, no cooling fins, etc. Obviously they're shaped very differently as far as sump location, but would a Vulcan V6 oil pan bolt to a SHO V6 block?

Edit: my search-fu must be lacking today - the forum just suggested a few previous hits on this topic. Sorry!

TIA,
Bob

Based on what I've seen so far, you don't have a lot of options. Your best bet may be modifying the oil pan and pickup tube to move the sump rearward and clear the suspension elements. The 1st and 2nd gen Rangers still had the twin I-beam suspension, so that cuts down on room toward the front of the engine. Here is a related link. https://shoforum.com/threads/oil-pan-options.140919/

Can you fab one with SS cut and weld or is there too much semi-circle bending at the front end? Anything else with windage or anything that might prevent a patient skilled person to pioneer fab one with measurements for others? That is a big ask but I am curious if it's doable.
