Replace the pressure sending unit; $5 and 5 minutes to swap out and if the light goes out, call it a day; if you don't hear any rod knocks on cold startup, I would not worry about doing bearings right away since it is winter and is a DD.

I'd change the oil light sensor, they can deteriorate with age. ... 50K.

Ditto. An old oil light sensor can also leak, which makes a big mess. Replacing it is easy $5 preventative maintenance.

well I did hear some rod knocks on it when I first bought the car, maybe the first three times I started it... since then nothing

he said the car was sitting for a year

I gotta drive it haha, the temptation is just too much to take it out for a few minutes here and there

I'll be changing the bearings saturday, I got em for 48 bucks or such from a local speed shop........

yeah, when the SHO sits for more than a month or so you really need to crank it for a little while to let that oil circulate and build up some pressure... the easiest way to do this is pop one of the ends of the DIS off and crank it for about 10-15 seconds. Then, plug the DIS back in and yer good to go. This also gets the valvetrain, etc, coated in oil. You would not believe how much an engine can wear in the 3 seconds it starts without oil.

But I will +1 on the oil sensor. They, like all other sensors, do go bad.

Did you get Clevite rod bearings for $48 total - that's an very good price, especially for a local speed shop.

Remember to order a Felpro oil pan gasket set. Those can take a couple of days to get. And you'll need black sensor safe RTV.
