Please help I have an oil leak, and it looks like it is coming from the thing that the oil filter screws on to. Is that possible and what do i need to do? Very worried, not a bad leak but a leak!!

First of all, check to see if the filter is on snug.

Is this a new leak or did it start after the last oil/filter change? If so, the filter gasket may have a problem. These problems include a damaged seal, the seal isn't seated in the ridge properly, or the old one stuck to the housing, or several other similar problems.

Another thing you could check for is to see if you have a double gasket on there. When I worked at Valvoline, a lot of times when you take the old filter off, the gasket would stay on there. And when you put the new filter on, you would have a double gasket, which would cause a leak. Sometimes it would leak a lot right away, and other times customers would come back in a couple days saying their oil light came on.

Is there any possible chance that the thing that the oil filter screws on to is separate from the block or is it and the block all one piece. sorry to be a pest just worried about my baby!
