So I was looking around Bob's shop earlier this month, and I noticed that he had a SHO longblock lying around. I thought it was cool that it had an oil cooler on it, and asked where he got it from, so that I could put one on mine. Came to find out that all SHO's came with an oil cooer...

:squint:

So now I have an oil cooler. And more importantly, I have questions on how to put this bugger on the right way. And also, anyone know where I might find a new cooler to block gasket? The one that's already on the cooler looks like an oil leak waiting to happen, unless it's supposed to be that thin.

Pics are always welcome. :thumb:

That cooler to block "gasket" is pretty amazing in my opinion, as what you are really looking at is an over worked, over glorified - large "O" Ring. I changed that "gasket" on mine at 113k and the old one was rock solid vs. the new one I purchased. Ford Dealer around here was able to get the gasket pretty cheap, i.e. less than $10. As far as orientation there is a tab on the oil cooler that hits a pin that sticks out of the block. This tab hits the pin and prevents rotation of the oil cooler when you are tightening the bolt down. Let me know if you need a picture of how the cooler sits.
