oil comsumption....

my 92 mtx has 130345 miles....it doesn't leak oil or burn it... the ? is even when they are new, do the have a problem with "using"oil???

I have 3000 miles on a rebuilt 3.0L engine and it has not burned a drop. My old motor with 163,000 would burn oil excessively every time the rpm's exceeded 4000 or on long road trips. The most oil it burned was about 2 quarts in one day. That was running it hard and at high rpm's. At least now I know my new motor is properly broken in and hopefully will be more reliable then my old motor.

My 90 mtx has 165000 very hard miles on it. I believe it even sat in a CA junkyard for a year. The main bearing seals are leaking and it also leaks from a couple of sensors and in the plug wells of course. When I first got it, I would go through about 1 quart a week or every 200 miles on a road trip. I finally bought a case of Valvoline maxlife and that seemed to cut down the usage by over half. On another note, about 3 weeks after I bought the car I changed the filters, plugs, and oil. I didn't notice much oil usage up to then but I changed the oil with synthetic. Then I really started missing the oil.

ist not burning or leaking......my 94 chevy corsica does the same damn thing NO BURNING OR LEAKING...oh well hope that z-max i used helps...
