Oil Capacity

so..I just did an oil change and it always took 5qts to fill her up, now she reads 3\4 full, I am using a K&N hp2009 would that cause a reading as I am getting? Thanx Doug -95 ATX

most cars I deal with will take 5.5qts to fill up. If you use the motorcraft FL1A (5.0 filter) or any of the larger filters, you're looking at 6+ to fill. I'm not sure if that K&N is stock size or not so I can't tell you how much extra to add.

The only true measure of FULL is the dipstick.

Anyone know why Doug Lewis fills his SHOs 1/4" past the FULL line?

Because he thinks windage is a GOOD thing? Because he likes a good head of foam on his beer AND his oil? Because he has strong feelings for NPSH (net positive suction head)?
