I have experienced a loss of coolant, I've replaced almost all of the hoses on the car and the t-stat with the 60k. I have not found any other leaks since the hoses have been replaced.
At first I assumed that it was just condensation becasue the car sat for a while, however upon start up the car idles roughly until it's warmed. I also assume that this is from coolant being suck in. The water from the exhaust does seem to have a sweet smell to it as well, (could be my imagination though). I know I have to do a compression test, and leak down test, and cooling system pressure test before I'm 100% sure. I don't want to take any chances so I parked the car in the drive until I get the funds to diagnosis and fix it properly.
The engine has close to 200,000 on it so I thought that maybe the engine that I found would be a wise investment. I figured maybe I'd come out ahead by going that route. I'd have a good core for future upgrades, and the car wouldn't have to be down for long. Don't get me wrong, I like to save a buck or two, I'm just thinking about future plans.
