I have been talking to some of the tuner/chip manufactures and need to know if anyone has bought an off the shelf program for a '99 sho. My sho is a daily driver so i am not looking for straight line performance. I am looking for better fuel economy. I have done nothing to the car but remove the third cat when I replaced the flex pipe. I will be adding a K&N filter in the spring and that will be about it as I mentioned, this is a daily driver. Any responses appreciated. I just don't see buying a 3 program tuner for big $ when i only need one.

If you want a proper tune, stay away from the off the shelf ones. All vehicles respond different to different tunes. Even the same year/engine vehicle. In you area, I would suggest hooking up Paul Nimz in Ashkum, IL.

i'm absolutely sold on the XCal product that Doug Lewis sells.
i've got the XCal1, however, many on this board have gone with the XCal2 model.
the thing that i like the most is that Doug will provide all of the assistance you need in ensuring that the specific tune you want/desire is attained.
unlike other retailers, Doug cares about the "SHO heads" on this site and upholding his fine reputation.
also, purchases from Doug allow you to upgrade at anytime and receive trade-in value.

Unlike the Other SHO vendors who are in it for all the money they make selling SHO parts...Right?

LOL. Excellent point. One of the occasional problems you have to look out for on this site or on any other that specializes enough that some of the people frequenting the site are also selling parts or services on the site topic is that pressure to make those sales can have an influence on what sort of advice such sellers give, even when they themselves work at not having that happen. This is just a human thing, and it really cannot be gotten around completely. You just have to be aware of it and keep it in mind when reading posts. On the flip side of that problem is the advantage that often those exact same people really do know more about the topic because it is their deep and long term interest that pushed them into eventually providing such parts and services for fees. Like many swords, both edges are sharp.

Paul, should such a thing happen to you again, please let me know and I will look into it, including taking it up to the top. I am pretty sure that Bizzy does not want that sort of thing going on.

Is this something like a handheld tuner? Can you upload and download an unlimited number of tunes? How does one go about creating/modifying the tune? I'm interested in this system because of the possibility of increased mileage...and I'm coming from fbody computers which have software designed to tune for every last detail. I'd be interested in the system if there were a choice of tunes to go with.
