I searched through the 77 results in this forum for clues, but haven't found any.

My speedometer works, though it shows about 5 under which seems sort of usual. My odometer doesn't move at all. Neither does the tripometer move. I had unplugged both ends of the speedo cable at one point, but both sides have been reconnected, enough that the speedo works.

Now I noticed that there is a magnetic drive portion as well as a pin driven portion on the cable. Are they the same, or is one for the odo and one for the speedo?

Any ideas?

I'll upload a pic. I found out that I was missing a gear that connects the mechanical driven portion to the actual odo sprockets.

As for the speedometer being off, I'm sure that has to do with how I put it back together again the first time. What I did this time was held the magnetic driven dial in the back steady with a finger and rotated the needle down to the pin. Now the needle rests on the pin. Is that a good way of "calibrating" it? (Engineers, don't slap me!)

Odo gear

The white horizontal screw-type gear was what I lost. The crappy part is I think I threw it away at some point not knowing that it went to anything. Thankfully a JY had the whole cluster for $6.50.
