o/d light flashing

does anyone know why or what for that matter it means when the overdrive light flashes?when it happened itried pressing the switch, nothing.then the car sat and when i left for work it was fine .the tranny is shifting fine so i don't think its a big deal or is it? thanks

It's telling you it has a problem. It should flash codes IIRC.

Pull the codes just as if you had a CEL. Same procedure, just look for codes in the 700s.

The flashing O/D light means the computer has detected an operating parameter that is out of tolerance. Untill you have a fault code, it is pretty unlikely that anyone will accurately guess what might be wrong.
