Hi kids!

New guy here and new to SHOs. Name's Jed. I've been a car guy all my life (so far) and also have a couple of MGs that I'm collecting parts to do V8 swaps on. And a 124" S&S powered '91 Harley bagger.

Anyway, the 'ol lady's '02 300M blew its second motor a couple months ago so I started looking for a new car. I was renting a Taurus Limited to keep her in a vehicle that was easier for her to drive than our modded F350, so buying a Taurus was an easy choice. I love everything about them; the looks, the performance, the ride.

Here's where the story gets interesting . . .

We were out car shopping last weekend and stopped at a used car lot looking at baby Benzes, 300Cs, and Tauruses and I spied one that stood out. Of course, it was an SHO. 2010. 80K miles.

I had checked this lot's inventory online and it wasn't listed, so finding it was unexpected. Took it for a test ride, said thank you, went home, and did a Carfax on it. Checked out. All good. Evidently they didn't really know what it was they had in their hands.

I also asked a couple pro mechanic friends about them (one owns a transmission shop) and they say that they rarely work on late model Tauruses. Another good sign.

Went back to the lot, paid the man for the car and took it home. I love it. Fast, gorgeous, clean, the 'ol lady loves it . . . . perfect!

So we're out today in it trying to figure out the nav system and there are all kinds of destinations programmed in it along with a full jukebox and more of the PO's stuff. One of the destinations is "home", and there's a phone number associated with it so I figured "what the ****" and called the number.

A kid answered the phone so I asked if Daddy was there. He was, and after introducing myself and explaining how I had acquired his unlisted phone number we began to chat.

Well, I'm blown away! He told me that he has a friend that is a Ford exec and he ordered this car with his friend's assistance and waited two months to take delivery. It seems the car was hand-built, special care, has every option available at the time except for seat massage and has been serviced, by the book, including seat air filters, since day one and is one of the first hundred to leave the factory!!!

I can't believe my luck!! The PO is happy that another car guy got his much loved and pampered toy and I'm feeling like I own a piece of history!

The thing is pristine. Other than a couple little blemishes in the paint and the peeling chrome on the taillights there isn't a mark on it. The interior is perfect. He isn't a smoker. There isn't a rattle to be heard. Every single thing works as it's supposed to.

As I said, I'm blown away, and now you are too!!!

So there it is, and here I am, ready to learn how to care for and feed this beast and make a few friends that share this disease.

Now, on with the SHO!!!

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your latest acquisition. To have one of the very first 100 of this generation, and know the history behind it, is an amazing thing. Even better that the car was actually driven and properly maintained. Enjoy the ride!
