I started hearing this weird noise from my engine right after my 60k. I will try to get a sound clip later in the week if all goes well with school and work. The best that I can describe the sound is that it is like a whirring sound. It comes to the engine after it has been warmed up and driven for a bit. I took the front apart again after my 60k to check if i did anything wrong but everything there is ok. After that I took the car to expert auto repair in palatine and what a mistake that was. First they told me the timing belt was loose so the charger 350.00 dollars to adjust it and the noise was still there. So i took it back and this time they replaced the tensioner pulley assembly by the power steering pump. Yet again the noise is still there. So now i'm over 400.00 dollars in the hole and i still got the noise and i cannot believe expert auto after i heard such great things about them. I bought a stethiscope and after an hour of probing the engine with it running the best i can tell is that it is coming from inside the oil pan. When i put the crank pulley back on during the 60k i pounded it on with a hammer. Later that day i read on here that multiple people said DO NOT POUND the crank pulley back on. I could of killed myself after that! So what is going on here? Am i looking at rod bearings?? please help

Pounding on the crank pulley ain't too good for the thrust bearings. frown

It's most likely a bearing if it's a whirring. If you damaged a bearing then all you can do is replace that bearing. :( :( Lots of work for a crank bearing.
