i checked the fuses, the ground , the bulbs.. I have brake lights and side corner lights .. the corner lights turn on when the switch is on which is on the same harness.. the turn signals also work. i thought maybe it was the main switch in the dash but there also is the auto headlight switch.. if either switch was bad then why would the corner brakes and turn signals work.. this is very hard to figure out..

Ford had a problem with the connector to the headlight switch on the taurus..i cant remember what years it affected but it was a easy fix. disconect the switch from the plug. Look at the headlight switchm plug it is a light colored backolite design feels like a rough plastic..if it has any dark marks or burn marks replace the connector. the wires will pull out and snap in new plug. The repair used to take about 40 min if you milked it.
