Its been awhile since I was here.I have posted in the main forum without much luck, so thought I would try locally. I have installed a low milage engine in my 89 that had a very high milage engine. The motor I have installed has been in my garage for about 4 years. It came out of a rollover car. I have sparks and pressure at the fuel rail, but not the slightest hint of it firing.
I have no codes except 1 1. My thought is gumed injectors, but my knowledge of them is limited. Does anyone have any thoughts, or test proceedures I could try

try starting fluid first to see if it wants to kick over. IF the injectors are clogged, the motor will fire under the influence of starting fluid.

post your results.

I think you are probably right. Unless it was run dry the last time it was run, there was probably fuel left in the injectors and rails. After 4 years it would have turned into varnish. Having the injectors professionally cleaned may do the trick for you. In the mean time, and before you spend any money, you could clean out the rails at home and swap the injectors from the high mile motor and see if that does the trick.

I'd of never spent those two years at sea if it hadn't been for ether. The girl at the bar (with the deep voice) told me her hankerchief was perfume scented...

The car is now up and running. I dont recommend starter fluid, I had a small fire which fortunatly did no damage.
I found that 4 of 6 injectors where not operating. I soaked them in carb cleaner, made up a test lead so that I could energize them, gently tapped them on a piece of wood (after accidently dropping one and finding that it started to work), and eventually they all came to life. The engine fired quickly after priming, and now runs great. Hope it runs for another 200,000 like the first one.
I have quite alot of obscure bits and pieces I took off the wrecked car, and since my wife thinks our yard has been transformed into something resembling the San Carlos Reservation, I am forced to get rid of some of it. I have no body panels, and plan on rebuilding the engine and trans I have just removed. Anything else, contact me.

Yes and always in the gaseous form, never the liquid.

Only used a quick squirt (rubber intake hose off, butterfly opened). One backfire and up she went, In anticipation of such eventuality, I had positioned a large towel close by.This saved the day as I was able to smother it.
