Well I drove my car since last August without any real problems. Yesterday I drive it for close to two hours and park it while I picked up stuff I needed from my apartment. I rounded everything up and decided to wait around before I left for my friends place about an hour away.

Three hours after I arrived I go to leave. Turn the key and it tries to start. Turns over, and over, and over, but doesnt start. Great. So I checked some things last night and figured to just disconnect the battery cable and wait it out for the night.

This morning I reattach the battery cables and cross my fingers, but again it didn't start. Well my parents brought my old car down for me to use, as most places are closed today of course :salute: .

Things I checked.

Got under the car while roomate turned key on. Fuel pump worked.
Checked for fuel on the fuel rail valve thing and fuel squirted out. Repeated several times until pressure was gone and then reprimed the line and checked, has good pressure.
Checked for spark, but was unable to get any.
The spark plug was clean, not gas soaked like i figured it would be if there was no spark.
Gas tank was at least half full.

So basically it turns over, but doesnt start and run. The spark plug was clean and dry, not soaked in gasoline... didn't even smell like gas. This makes me believe the injectors are not opening. But also I couldn't get spark.

As I was driving to my friends apartment I got to thinking maybe it was the anti-theft system disabling the fuel and ignition, but it turns over normal...

Any help is appreciated folks. I am lost right now. I'm going to look into just how to check spark, and to see if theres any other info on v8sho.

Try disconnecting the crank sensor connector and cleaning it up a bit. Its right next to youre crank pulley, behind the splash guard in the RH side wheel well.

I end up doing this every couple of months.

I'll check the crank and cam sensor's tomorrow.

I'll also look for too see if the tach is moving, but it's just cranking so I don't know how much it is moving.

Sounds like maybe the cam or crank sensor might have slipped or is dirty.

The anti-theft system will allow the engine to turn over but not start. Check to see if the theft light is flashing. If so move the column down from the up position while the key is in the accessory position. The light should turn off and allow you to start the car.

Theft light wasn't flashing.

The crank sensor was bad. I should have my SHO back by this afternoon. Was reasonable too. I figured it'd be alot more but I went to a shop referenced to me by my auto tech teacher. They had it diagnosed within a couple hours after I dropped it off, and only reason it took another day is because the part had to be ordered and delivered.
