I went to go change the water pump I just replaced the half with the pull on it and left the other half in the car
so it ran pretty good before I did that and now it wont start now at all.

I have fuel and spark I did not do anything with the timing at all

so my only guess is that I screwed up the crankshaft sensor when I was in there

will that sensor keep it from starting even if I have spark and fuel

need to get this fix I have the car sitting on the wife's side of the garage and now it wont start.

thanks

I never took the cks out that's the thing

another question I have is could a bad vac line be causing this or something along those lines because when I crank it it smells like gas like it flooding out really bad
I have had this problem happen before few times the car would not start then the next day or later that day it would fire up fine.

if you truly have spark, then the crank sensor is working.

if the engine is flooded, you hold the gas pedal to the floor as you crank it - that stops fuel being injected so it gets 'dried out' and can start.

yep I new the hold the pedal to the floor that's how I have started it before a few time but this time it would not work

after it set for a wile and I go to start it. it trys to start for just a bit right away as it starts to crank then nothing just cranks and there is no sign of wanting to start.
after I cranked if for 3 or 4 sec I pulled a plug and it was soaked in fuel. so i am getting fuel. and I tested the spark with a spark tester and it has spark. I did not test all cylinders for spark just two cylinders. so I figured they all would have spark.

I have owned this car for a long time and have replaced the motor and did a 3.2L swap from the 3.0L but have not had a problem yet till now and cant quite figure it out.
I don't know if it I just a coincidence that this problem came up now or it is from changing the water pump I just don't know what I could have done to cause this just changing the pump.

Thanks for all the help so far

Just to give you something to try, remove the two 12mm bolts holding the crossover tube down to the heads and swap them. I finished a 60k one time and was getting a no start like you and it turns out I wasn't getting a good ground at the crossover. I pulled the bolts, went over them with a wire brush and swapped them from where they were. The car fired right up after that.

The section of the intake manifold that the DIS is mounted to. Only thing holding it in place are the intake couplers and two 12mm bolts.

ok so I went and cleaned up the bolts and made sure they have a good ground together. but now I have a new problem when I started to crank the car it cranked really slow and hard to the point it would stop turning. so I thought maybe it was the battery going dead but I changed it out to one that I knew was good and it would not turn over any more. did the starter go bad because I did allot of cranking on it Saturday trying to fix the problem. maybe I burned it up I don't know but now it will not crank at all. the bat is good

or you have a bad connection (power or ground) on the starter side of the system.

So even though it started fine before this whole deal the starter cable all of a sudden can get a bad contention. I will check the connections and make sure they are good. what els might it be. sorry for all the question but I have not had a whole lot of wrench time in this car (I have had the car for 4 years) it has ran and drove great for me never had any problems. I am very familiar with cars iv got a 90 eagle talon that I built that runs 10.8sec 1/4's I know that car by heart but the sho man its a whole nother beast.

thanks for the help guys

Did a whole bunch of coolant dump all over the crank sensor when you changed the water pump?

I would put some jumper cables on the batt to make sure you have enough CCA's running through there. Then go with the rapping the starter and then maybe jump the starter? spit balling here

when the bearing went out in the water pump a ton of coolant came out the neck of the pump where the shaft goes and went every where but even after that it ran and drove I did not drive it hardly at all after that because it had no water pump but every thing still worked fine. it started fine to pull it in the garage it sat for about 2 months before I fixed the pump. I will check a few thing you guys motioned when I get a chance and get back with you thanks
