Can't find a post or faq for this...
Headlight just went out. Replaced the two bulbs & it still didn't work. Checked all fuses under steering column. The lights only work, if you pull back on the "signal wand". If you push forward on the wand, all lights are out again. What's also not working is the fog light switch (there is no light to indicate that it is on). Is there a bad switch somewhere?

Sounds like you have a bad light switch, do your parking, tail and dash lights still work?

Do the brights work when you try to flash them? not when you switch em on, i have a wierd feeling you got a Multi Funtion switch problem. Not to hard to repalce either. The MFS is the switch to your left that controls the wipers, turn signals and brights, my mfs went out and i had the same problem. Not sure where to find em though, i got one from a fellow forum member.

Has to be the headlight switch. Fogs only work if headlights are on. Also they'll only work with the low beams.

Yes. they work if I flash. That is how I've been driving the last 2 days. Just pull back on the MFS wand while driving. If I turn on the light switch, it does not work. Maybe some light switch/relay is bad...?

Quoted for truth.

When you replace this, try to find the Motorcraft one, and stay the **** away from the Wells version. I bought one a year ago, and it's already gone bad on me. What a piece... :madflame:

General consensus is the MFS switch?? If so, why wouldn't the foglight switch/button light on when depressed? Also, why would just turning the light switch turn the light on? If this MFS is the problem, where can I buy the unit?

Pull the dash cluster and look at the headlight switch connector. Make sure it isn't melted. There was a recall/TSB on these for the 93's. I'm not sure how or if they affected the later years or not.

Are you running aftermarket fogs on the stock wiring circuit?

This is the Wells version. Unless you like dash fires, do not get the Wells version.

Just aftermarket fog bulbs (50 watts?), the housing is still factory though.

Is this an easy DIY project? Can these be obtained via parts stores (Napa, checker, etc) or do I need to get from dealer parts?

So far...
Rockauto - $50.79
Autopartsgiant - $49.75
Oehq - $50.70

pretty competitive.
I hope this is the culprit & that it is fairly easy to install.

The part just came in... It seems like a fairly easy unit to install. I figure just remove some screws on the steering column, then take a few off the switch & then plug the new one in? Do I need to unplug the battery cable first
