Hi Guys,

I searched before posting and didnt find anything recent related to my question.

Do ya'll think the premium care extended service plan is worth it? I am at 43000 and am covered through 48k with ford certified. I was quoted $950 for up to 75,000 miles or through 2018.
What do you guys think? You can finance interest free up to 18 months also.

I haven't had any major problems but do plan on keeping the SHO and love the piece of mind. Just not sure if anyone has had any experience with having one compared to actually needing to use the warranty.

Thanks in advance!

I think that is a deal, if you want to get a warranty. If you do buy extended warranty, only buy the manufacturer's one - most of the insurance company extended warranties have so many disclaimers that they cover almost nothing.

If something does break, it will almost certainly cost more than $950, so you are basically betting whether or not something will break during the remaining time you have the car.

The extended warranty plans are basically a bet, you bet them x dollars that you will have problems.
Should you buy it?... It's really a crap shoot. $950 for 25k miles? I'm not sure I would buy it if you regularly service the cars and change the fluids. Seems that is becoming clear on the SHO.

I have always bought extended warranties with my new cars, and never pay full retail for them.

With the SHO, I'm just past 60k on my 2010, and didn't use the standard powertrain warranty. I bought the 75k mile coverage, and I don't expect that I will use that either.

My old 2003 Subaru took advantage of the standard warranty, but didn't use the extended warranty. Wasted extended warranty purchase.

My old 2004 Nissan Quest had timing chain fixed. Barely came out ahead on cost of extended warranty.

My old 1999 Nissan Sentra had no issues, so wasted warranty purchase.
My old 1997 Taurus LX had no issues, so wasted warranty purchase.
My old 1995 Subaru Outback, stayed in the shop with PTU, and various engine issues. Came out ahead.
My old 1991 Subaru Legacy stayed in the shop. Came out way ahead.

You have the "touch", Mark :) Greg, you didn't say what year SHO you have. Regardless, look through the list of TSBs issued for the Gen 4 SHO, and decide for yourself if you want to deal with any of it. You should also look up your warranty booklet and see what powertrain & emissions coverage already exist past where the odo is now.

You can shop online to see if you can get better pricing. Flood Ford, Lombard, bunch of others have pretty good pricing.

Thanks guys. My SHO is a 2013. I guess i should be researching how well the SHO holds up over time in order to make my decision. i.e. Everyone on here have had very few issues up to 100k.
