I have a 1992 Sho with some issues where I have asked several people and they are not sure. Whenever I am in lower gears and about to stop, the rpm will drastically drop and occasionaly even die. Im not sure if its a problem with the clutch or not as the other gears seem to be shifting fine. Any advice?

Also when I took it to the shop they suggested it might be a problem with the car's computer. Have recentley replaced the battery, and also the pump relay as this was something the shop also suggested.

Thanks

Try a search on reseting the idle. There should be a thread in the "how do I section" about it as well. Your intake air bypass valve could be sticking a little as well. You could also looking cleaning the MAF. All the info should be avail on the site here if you search for it.

Cleaning everything would be a good place to start. Also, are you running your AC. Mine had the same issue whenever I had the AC on.
Not sure what the fix would have been if I wanted to keep the AC. I decided it was a sign and ripped all the AC stuff out (except the gutted comp case for support).

When the battery was replaced, I will bet that the idle was not properly reset. See the link here to reset the EEC idle speed programming.

If the idle reset procedure does not cure it, then tweak the throttle set screw on the TB by 1/16-1/8 turn, no more, in the direction that opens the throttle plate. Then redo the idle reset procedure. If you are **** about it, you can get out the FSM and follow the base idle set up procedure to assure everything is set up to spec.

If it's not that check for vac. leaks. If nothing there, give the IAC a few whacks with a screwdriver(cylinder shaped with electrical plug on one end just on the other side of the intake from the throttle)

DO NOT touch the idle speed set screw. There is a detailed procedure to set the throttle plate position and it involves removing the SPOUT plug to default the timing to 10 degrees BTDC. This is not something you want to change.
