I called my dad's cusin's shop today. I had tranny dropped off there to be pulled from the engine (junkyard chopped the entire subframe out) and they'd later call to have me bring my SHO in to have it installed. Last time I had talked to my dad's cusin's sun (shop supervisor) he said they had it all disconnected and were almost ready but they were havin' gettin' one of the CV shafts out. He didn't seem to think it would be a problem. I called him today and he had bad news.
They couldn't get it out. So they had sent it to a tranny specialist. They couldn't get it out either. The specialist suggested, "If we can't get it out, just think what it might have pushed outta place in there."
I told him I'd figure out what I wanted to do and give him a call. So now the time comes to look at what I have for options. I've saved for a couple months to get the money for this recently rebuilt tranny and now it's worthless. I don't have the funds for much and I don't know what to do anymore. I wanna keep this car more then anything. I can't sell a SHO with 165K and a slippin' tranny. No one would give me anything for it. I'd love to trade it for a MTX SHO and never have to deal with these ATX problems ever again. But even if I could find someone to buy it, I'd lose my subframe goodies and Eibach's (unless I have those removed). Could I beg a SHO service shop somewhere to donate some time to rebuild my tranny for me (fat chance
). Or I could trt to build a SHOGun. What can I make one for? Help me out SHOGun on a Budget. What would I need to buy and how much and how difficult is the work involved? Can I just do the engine and tranny first and add the rest later? Or I could try to sell off the extra engine for money for a rebuild. But partin' an engine isn't gonna get me anywhere close to enough for a rebuild. How long would it take and how much would it cost to rebuild the tranny myself with help from friends and a Helms manual? What are the chances it would even work? What would I need and how much would it cost to convert my ATX to an MTX? How much work is involved in doin' this? I want everyones opinions please. I wanna keep the SHO alive.
