im new to the SHO realm and i have succuessfully killed my clutch already. do you suggest an OEM clutch or a performance clutch. i just found out i can get a custom clutch made for the SHO; 6 puck stage 3. would that be a wise decision on a daily driven SHO? you cant compare a civic to an SHO, but i have almost all performance parts on my civic, including a stage 3 clutch, stage 2 axles, so on and so forth (i think u see where im going with this). what do you think. thanx in advance for your input.

Check out shosource.com. For a daily driven NA vehicle I would go with a stock or just above stock replacement. I would also suggest going with the 17lb flywheel. Gives great responce!

x2 Unless you plan to do a lot of large power adding mods (e.g., supercharger or turbo) to your car a stock clutch is a very good option. Just make sure you get the right one, as the parts suppliers are notorious for substituting the old steel-cover pressure plates and smaller disks (which are not good).

Something I'd like to add to that, the stock valeo pressure plate has one piece straps instead of many thin straps stacked together such as you would get from Advance Auto Parts(which is terrible).

Stock kit, which you can order from AZ (contains Ford and Veleo parts ), combined with the ceramic TOB from shonutperformance.com.

I run a spec stage 2 with a 9lb flywheel in my DD 93. Honestly it was tricky at first, but I got used to it very fast, and I would never run a stock clutch ever again in any car. I love the solid engagement that a stronger clutch gives, but remember if you don't NEED a stronger clutch, going with a stock replacement is cheaper, and it will probably last longer.

Unless you're in a hurry, take the time to do a search and read-through/study the "several" threads on clutches here. Over the last few years clutches have been problematic for the SHO. By reading through the threads, you'll get a good idea of which ones have had a higher failure rate (or trend) than others, as well as the aspects of one versus another clutch based on others' experiences here.

If you have the time, take it, as there's a lot of work involved if you get a clutch you don't like or that fails in short-order . . . .
