Hey guys,

I've never owned a SHO before and don't really know too much about them. I have a 96 with 110,000 miles. My problem is I moved the car the other day and parked the car on the street so my wife could get out of the driveway. It was parked there for the rest of the day and when I went to start it later it fired then died. Now it won't even fire. It turns over but won't the engine won't even stumble. It seems to have fuel pressure and I checked all the fuses I could think that would cause the problem. I'm mechanicaly inclined but need some direction. Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you happen to notice any ticking while the car was running for the last time?

Does the motor crank and crank and just not fire? If so I'd say its the crank sensor. Replace both the crank and cam sensor while your at it.

If it cranks and won't start it probably is the crank sensor. It will not throw a code. It could also be the wiring for it as it runs along the timing cover behind the AC compressor. If it is not secured properly then the belt may cut the wiring.

That's exactly what it's doing. I'll give that a shot. Thanks.

I'll check that while I'm in there.

The engine will start sooner or later (within a minute of solid cranking) if it is the cam sensor.

Ok, so I finally had some time tonight and I got her to start. I'm not sure what to think thought. Before it wouldn't even fire after cranking for about 30 seconds. The battery started to run down after 3 tries of that so I had given up. I put the charger on it tonight and after about 15 seconds it started to fire. Week, but it did so I kept cranking it got better and better. It slowly started to run and know it's fine. Turned it off three or four times and she started right back up. Soooo..... is it the cam sensor?

Maybe... change both sensors.

Cam sensor is like a five minute job tops.

Front bank, right side, below cam cover. I think it's either 8mm or 10mm bolt. < $15 part from any parts store.

Another possibility - How old is you battery?

Generally, with electronics, when a sensor pukes - IT PUKES. They don't "get better" too frequently. The batteries on our cars are known to do all kinds of strange things as they begin to fail.
You said you put a charger on your battery, after which the car was able to start again. More characteristic of a tired battery then a failed sensor, IMO.

If your battery is over 3 years old, you might want to consider replacing it.

I had some weird battery issues too. mine worked out to be a connection since i was pretty well laid up when i put it in.(back surgery) mine died on me while running then wouldn't start, called AAA, while on the phone tried to start, it started and the car ran fine so i drove home, before that i had some random clock resetting on occasion. I definately would replace the battery if older, and the sensor if money isn't that big of an issue.
