Hey everyone! I wasn't sure if I should post in the Gen 4 forum or the Intro forums...which tend to be a mix of all the Gen forums. So I decided on here.

I just got my 2013 SHO on 10/14, and am super excited! I am a Ford girl and have an 06 Mustang too. I have been stalking the forums here for the past week or so, and decided to join! I am eager to learn as much as I can... I will admit, I don't know much yet. I try and work on my cars as much as I can... if it gets over my head, then I will break down and just pay someone. I traded in a 2012 Taurus SEL (which I loved! ...so much much, that I got another) and upgraded to a SHO!

Looking forward to talking to everyone and learning from all y'all. I am already reading up on some of the different tuners and such. I will upload some pics of my new (but used, hehe) car asap!

Welcome! I'm curious what your take is between your new SHO and your 'stang... can you feel much difference in power? Does the SHO handle as well as you hoped, coming from a Mustang?

Thanks everyone! IMO, in terms of ride quality and comfort... the SHO wins hands down. The v8 rwd mustang is just a completely different drive. In terms of "feel", there really is no comparison of the two. Handling, coming from the 2012 SEL... the SHO handles quite a bit better from what I can tell. I still have the Mustang...not sure this gal can part with her convertible :)

Welcome to the SHO family. There are only two trusted tuners for the Ecoboost SHO's. You have Torrie at Unleashed and Livernois that I run. These cars tuned are sooo much fun, you may not want to drive the mustang again, HAHA. If you do have any problems, most here will try to help you out. Welcome to the club. Oh yeah, SHO convention next year is in Nashville, you may want to attend.

Thanks everyone. I was actually looking through some of the threads about tuning already! :p So it looks like the air intake systems don't gain much on the SHO... what are these packages I keep reading? Is it highly advised to get the thermostat, new plugs and MAP sensor to go along with the tune?

BoatSHO,

LMS ( Livernois Motorsports) has some great packages available that include variations of the upgrades you are looking at. From my limited time on the forum "Stage 1" seems to be Tuner, thermostat, new plugs, and MAP sensor. "Stage 2" would include all of Stage 1 plus Intake, downpipes and exhaust. "Stage 3" would get into meth/water injection and upgraded turbo's.

From everything I've read if you have a 2013+ with PP and you go "Stage 2" you should be running in the 12.8 or faster 1/4 miles.

Hope this helps!

The speed density intake of the EcoBoost vehicles are very flexible when it comes to accepting greater air flow. This is why you will only see gains of ~10whp on a non methanol injection or upgraded turbo car. Once you add either of those parts our CAI has been proven to add as much as 22WHP over another popular CAI. Unfortunately, the days of slapping on a CAI and adding 40hp are over. :frown:

We offer several performance packages that vary in gains. Our Level 1 kit will add about 70WHP and 90WTQ. We do advise the addition the 3 BAR MAP sensor, as it allows us to give you a stronger and more smooth tune. We also offer a Level 2 kit that adds our Thunderstorm Race Catted Downpipes!

My '12 with LME Stage 4X, 3 bar map, there downpipes, Airaid CAI, 3rd cat delete and Dynomax mufflers, the best the car ran was a 12.69@ 108. Traded it in for a '13, had everything swapped over, expect now have the v8 93 3bar tune. According to the Aeroforce gauge I have in the car, she ran a 12.49@111. Now that is skewed some due to tire spin, but you get they idea. I have a modded factory exhaust, hard for me to swallow $1300 for just exhaust. I have about $2000 in all mods. Gas mileage 25-26 on trips, and all the power you need incase someone wants to pick a fight. Whoops forgot, I have the 160 Tstat too, that is a must too.

Thanks for the addition Sean!

Actually, our Level 1 kit will run in the 12.6-12.8 range with the good driver mod installed.

We prefer to use our AlkyControl SHO kit VS a WMI kit, as we have had several issues with the quality of the important internal components of the water kits. If you decide that you do want to build up your SHO that far we have our Level 5 kit that includes all of the bolt on parts (tuner, CAI, Tstat, 3 BAR, Downpipes, Catback) plus our Alky kit! That kit has been proven to run EXTREMELY low 12's, and it has even been featured in Road&Track Magazine!!!!

Thanks for the compliments @BamSHO

Buying used, is there anything simple to look for (on or in the car) to know if I have the Performance Package? I didn't get the original window sticker...although it was a Certified Pre-Owned at a Ford Dealership. I am inclined to think it is not a PP... but not sure why I think that.

On a '13 or newer PP, look at the lower grille opening to see if there is a transmission cooler, or open the trunk, look under the cover, if a spare a non PP car, air pump and can of fix a flat, then a PP car.

Easiest way to tell is the alcantara steering wheel or the extra cooling piping behind the grill. I had a thread going on this when I first got on the Forum.
