So my fuel pump was singing. Time to replace it right? I ordered a new pump from RCM and put it in last weekend and the new pump is louder then the old one. This one doesn't sing, it's more of a buzz/hiss sound. The thing almost sounds like an air compressor tank draining. Anyone else run into this with a new pump? In my career I've installed many fuel pumps and never heard a new one sound this bad. Did I do something wrong or did I just get a bad pump? Thanks.

P.S. It was just a standard Carter/Federal Mogul pump.

Some just are louder than others. Generally the more gas in the tank the quieter, but even with a full tank in my '97 the 255lph pump could be heard pretty well.

I prefer the noise, then I know its on. I just did my FP over the weekend and can not hear it AT ALL. Kinda makes it tough to tell if it ever goes out without a FP gauge.
