Some background on why you bought an engine? Did you put a rod through the side of yours or something?
This is not likely any special police engine - it is the only reman engine option listed for a 2012 Lincoln MKS. If a MKS had an oil cooler, this engine should have one also. The MKS had non-PP final drive ratio.
This was interesting to research. First, it looks like a 2012 interceptor sedan IS a 2012 SHO AWD ecoboost 3.5L engine, PP spec, but no need to press a "sport" button. It rides like a curb-jumping cop car though.
You've got to supply your intake, exhaust, turbo, accessories, management etc. for these crate engines. This is a fix for a blown engine.
6006 is code for "Sealed Long Block". All reman engines use that code.
D1FZ-6006-
DRM you can find below. It is not listed in the PI category.
You can see the
new 2015-2017 police engine has a -B suffix, while the
new 2015-2018 SHO engine has a -A suffix. There are no
reman PI 3.5L engines. If you want a police engine for a 2015, you should have bought the
FG1Z-6006-B, $6755, which may have only superficial or even incompatible changes - for accessories, for example. Or cams good for idling for a long time.
The three "qualifier" codes for the D1FZ, like 1S-490-DA, I couldn't find what they mean, but the 2011 EcoBoost has a similar part number to the first.
So did you get a police-specific engine?
No. Just a SHO/MKS, as printed on the box? - yes.
Did you get a PP engine?
Maybe no. A MKS is not a PP.
Did you get the right engine?
A
new 2015-2018 3.5L EcoBoost has a different part number than a
new 2011-2012 3.5L EcoBoost. No reman engine is listed for newer than 2012 (as of 2018), which might mean they haven't made them yet - or they are all relatively compatible.
What could be the difference in cop cars?
2012 PI is supposed to exist, but aside from reviews and test reports, I can find nothing officially from Ford. For the 2013 PI Sedan AWD 3.5L Ecoboost V6 we get the same SHO PP specs (just no need for a sport button):
HP: 365 @ 5,500
Torque 350 @ 1500 - 5250
Axle Ratio: 3.16:1 (same as PP, not the same as SHO/MKS with 2.77)
In a 2012 evaluation of police vehicles, 2012 PI is listed with
heavy-duty 220A alternator, vs SHO 200A.
In the 2017 brochure, it hints the ecoboost V6 is "tuned exclusively for police operations" but this might be marketing hyperbole, or something only in the ECU. Or something that needs both the engine and the ECU.
Most of a "PP" is not the engine.
What does a "6006" reman crate engine come with (although you could just open the bag):
3.5L 4V:
- Cylinder Block, Head(s),Crankshaft, Camshaft(s), Pistons,Rings, Bearings, Timing Gear(s) –Chain(s) or Belt, Oil Pump.
- Oil and Filter, Spark Plugs
- Oil Filter Adapter
- Oil Cooler (all NEW crate engines come with cooler, remove if not needed)
- Oil Pan
- Installation Gaskets/Seals
- Water Pump
- Valve Covers
- Thermostat
- Front Cover
- Front Seal
- Crank Damper
- Exhaust Manifold Gasket(s)
- Exhaust Manifold Fasteners
Hope that was helpful, if not disappointing.
