im getting my exhaust done here in a couple weeks, puttin on custom bent 2.5", summit turbos, and a 28" glasspack resonator, and wondering if i should get my cats replaced. the car has 136,*** miles on it with no exhaust work documented. and for any of you who a have a setup like this, in the seat-of-pants dyno u get any more power? and if i should get new cats what should i pay for good ones?

You can get high flow cats from www.summitracing.com for about 50 bucks each they will definately help.

On topic, I do not think you will see a huge gain by replacing your cats. Being as you have an ATX the bends in the Y-pipe are not that extreme. Just upgrading your cats and leving the stock piping to either side (as opposed to a whole new y-pipe) will almost certainly not yield any gain. Modern catalytic converters (yes, even stock ones) are not that much of a restriction. By modern, I mean anything past, say, 1985.
That being said, I would definately suggest replacing them. Mostly just as a precautionary measure. Technically, unless you have some other problem(s) the cats should be fine, but as long as your are having exhaust work done it is a good time to replaces them.

im not seein the extra posts there buddy...... wink and will there be much of a gain other than sounding cool from the cat replacement and new cat-back? the power part doesnt matter to me, i still dont get much happier than hearing those secondaries open..... ALL HAIL SECONDARIES hail hail ! thumb
