So I just took off the heads and the cylinder walls look good. So with that and the good condition of the rod bearings I think I am satisfied with the internals. here is my task list so far. Please offer some suggestions.

1. Replace timing belt and water pump.
2. Replace front main seal, and rear main seal.
3. Install oil pan gasket.
4. Replace rings.
5. Install lower intake gasket.
6. New plugs and wires.

Any thing else? After this is reassembled it will go in the car. Thanks for your help

If you have the money and time you might also want to go through and repalace any and all sensors on the engine so be sure that nothing will go wrong for a while thats what i am probably gonna have to do soon. Good luck.

If you're going to replace the rings, you should do the valve stem seals too. You should also consider doing a quick grind on the valves and cleaning all the carbon off of them while the heads are off the motor.

Does that mean I have to dissasemble anything to have a valve grind, or can I just bring the heads in as one piece?

You need to be able to remove the valves to do either, but neither is something you need to "bring them in" for. Valve stem seals are simple, especially out of the car, and the valve grind is also an easy DIY unless you want something like a custom multi-angle job. The suction cup and the valve grinding compound will set you back all of about $8 at an auto parts store.

If you decide to do it, there are a number of members on the forum who have the Rotunda tool kit that would probably be happy to lend or rent to you.

Ouch! I called a place and they said they would do it for $650. I have no idea how to start so I may just not do it.
