I am a new owner of a 1994 Ford Taurus SHO 3.2L. It has 150,000 miles on it. The problem im having has been described in other threads but it does not seem as though the fix has been found. The car will idle at higher RPM's at a random pace. Ill start the car and the RPM will shoot to 2500, then drop a little aboue 1000, the shot back up and down. It wont keep an idle. Once I put the car in gear the RPM will fall where its supposed to for about 20 seconds. Then it will shoot back up as if I had my foot on the gas. I have put the car in park and put my foot on the gas until 2000 RPM. Even then it will not stay at the RPM I select because the engine makes itself go faster. Ive attempted to drive the car at a selected speed (25mph) but the engine wont keep the selected speed. It will accelerate on its own. Ive seen people say change many different things from vac hoses to senors...then a couple days later they repost saying the problem still exists. Does anyone think it could be a series of things going on that is causing this problem. If so please name them so that I can try them. If possible list everything I need to change and check from the first to the last. Im more than willing to try and give results.
