I have a 94 atx and im kind of at a dead end. I have the battery out, belt off, idler pully off, Timing belt top cover off and i cant seem to get the power steering pump pully off to remove the tensioner pully to remove the bottom timing belt cover. Is there an easier way. I have the tool to remove the crank case pully with bumb starting and all but i seem to be stuck. The power steering pully isnt loosing. I saw that on the mtx's you dont have to take it off but it seems to be covering the tensioner pully. And Suggestions. Im totally confused.

I'm figuring this the the crank positon sensor you're doing? I'm getting ready to do this myself when I get around to to the water pump on mine. I have seen where you don't really need to get the back cover off to get the wire through. Me personally, I haven't seen the plug end. But I have taken apart numerous Ford plugends to help thread the wires through tight places. Just make a diagram of the shape of the plug and where each color wire goes. Then usually all it tkaes is a small set if needlenose pliers to pop out a lock inside the plug and a small jewelers screwdriver to gently push a tab back to pull the wire out of the plug. Set the plug and lock in a safe place. Thread the wiring up to where you need it and reassemble per the diagram. HTH!

You're exactly correct about removing the wires from the connector and threading them behind the back plate, but he's not to that point yet. You can get the full instructions from Shotimes.com, but here's the relevant portion: Remove the power steering pump pulley using a 19 MM 3/8" drive socket on a breaker bar. Slip a large c clamp through one of the holes in the pulley to keep it from turning. Remove the 19 MM nut. The pulley will come off without a puller. (Mine did) Remove the water pump pulley.

Force4--I just noticed your sig. My brother bought an '83 GT 5.0 convertible Mustang new. Unfortunately, he sold it several years later. He was aware that it was uncommon. I still have a copy of the window sticker.

I am in the middle of this task right know. What I did was use a 3/8 drive extention about 6" long, I put that thru the hole. It held very solid to break the nut loose on the steering pump pulley. Once you get this the disassembly should be pretty easy.

Next time, crack loose all of the nuts for the pulleys while the belt is still on to hold them in place. Much easier then screwing with it all day.
