Hey everyone-
Ok, here is the deal, i have a 1992 sho atx that i sold to my friend... Well one night my friends and i were driving and the battery light came on. thing sstarted to go dim and shut off so we pulled over and sat in a gas station parking lot where it died out. we couldnt get it started, it wouldnt even turn over so we thought it was the battery as it has a brand new alternator. well we bought a brand new battery put it in and it started right up. we drove the car for about 45 mins and then the battery light came on again. we arrived back at my dorm and parked it. we took it later on and after about a 5 min drive everything went completely dim and things started to shut off like the climate control. we parked and it died...well we jumped it and it drove to autozone where the checked everything over and they reported the alternator was completely shot. Well, we put another brand new alternator in it and as my friends were driving back home they made it about 100 miles give or take where the sho started doing the same stuff and died out....please help me with this.....weve already spent a lot of money on batteries and alternators....but we cant figure out whats wrong with it...and dont feel like taking it to ford, we all know thatll be an arm and a leg...well it has a brand new batter and it went threw 2 alternators....help will be greatly appreciated. thank you

There's no such thing as a '92 ATX.

In any case, one of the common problems people run into when they have a failing battery or alternator is that a bad battery can ruin an alternator, and a bad alternator can ruin a battery. It can be a vicious cycle if care isn't taken to ensure that a good battery with a full charge is in place when a bad alternator is replaced, or that an alternator is good before installing a brand new battery.

You may also have a larger electrical problem such as a short or high-resistance open. Check the integrity of the cables from the battery to the starter, from the alternator to the starter, and on to the distribution block. Make sure all connections are clean metal-to-metal with no corrosion, and are tight.

well they were both brand new and put in at the same time.....so it must be in the wiring......
