ok so heres what happened- i did a full front 60k service- you know water pump, timing belt, crank seals, cam seals, crank sensor, cam sensor and last but not least drive belts. Also while i was in there i replaced the front bank timing chain (since i removed the intake). After replacing the chain and having to redo the exhaust cam timing (one tooth off) the car ran great! no leaks or anything! then on my way home i heard an odd noise- like plastic on metal. I thought maybe it was a splash shield or something i forgot to clip in fully. Lo and behold its the battery touching the front drive belt pulley!:oogle: Also noticing that the pulley had ate a hole in the battery and leaked one cell's worth of acid out! I ran and grabbed a bucket, baking soda and water and splashed it all over the engine and the belt subsystem, hood mat and everywhere else i found battery acid. After neutralizing the acid, i figured on there being water in th plug tubes- sure enough. After removing as much as i could by stuffing paper towels in there and using pressurized canned air ( no compressor at home) i started the car. It ran horribly like i figured it would so i kept the rpm's up (around 2500-3000) to get it hot. when it got warm i pulled the plug boots and left them while it cooled to try and get the water to steam off. Later, i tried again, only this time driving the car to get it hotter and get some airflowaround th engine. While driving (slowly in first and second gear) the misfires became violent and much more frequent along with intake and exhaust backfiring. I stopped the car to find bright red cats and a lot of smoke (thanks to a blown out cam seal) after letting it sit for a while i nursed it back homewith little pieces of blown up converter flying from the exhaust. Now i have replaced plugs, wires, and the cam seal. When i run the car it is still backfiring, there is a loud rattling/ knocking noise from the rear of the engine, no power, the oil leak is still there, and it wont stay running. I am getting a little too frustrated to think straight about this so i would appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks

Well, It sounds like you have timed the cams incorrectly when you pulled the front bank.

An engine with an advanced exhaust cam will run fine but HOTTTT
