One thing I am looking for is a diagram of the electrical wiring of the brakes. My brake lights do not work. The bulbs have been replaced. I have put a test light on the plug that plugs into the plug of the brake pedal, and it has no power. There are 2 wires that run off of that plug, I need to find out where they go, so I can find the short, or can I hard wire it somehow? I do have the chilton repair manual for the vehicle, but I cannot find a wiring diagram for the brakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I see from your other post this is a 1993, which might make a difference with wiring. I'm most familiar with 1989 cars.

The only thing between the battery + and the brake switch should be either a fuse (for 89, check #1 or #4, as these are brake and taillight) or a fusible link. Not sure which the 93 has. All the complicated bits in the brake circuit (boo signal to the computer, turn signal interrupt in the multifunction switch, etc.) are after the switch.

So, if you're not getting power to either of the connectors on the brake switch it's either fuse, fusible link, or wiring. Does the car run? If so, it's likely not a fuse or fusible link, as the brake lights (at least in 89) shared the circuit with a few other things.

Has an aftermarket remote start, alarm or theft prevention system been installed? Some of these tap the brake circuit, and might lead to a broken wire.

Hope this helps.

I have checked every single fuse, there is none blown. The car does run and drive fine. The parking light portion of the bulbs filament works, but the actual brake light filament portion does not. As far as I know or can tell no aftermarket anything has been installed on this car.

ok I have regone over everything that I have checked so far. Something that I missed somehow is that fuse #1, which is for the brake lights was blown. I swore I pulled all and checked them. It requires a 15amp fuse and all I had was a 20 so I plugged it in. It blew right away. So I am assuming I have a short somewhere. Anyone have any ideas?

ok I figured out the problem it was a recall in the Speed Control that was causing my fuse to blow and brake lights not to work. I unplugged it, inserted a fuse and the brakes worked fine. I already dropped it off at the dealership to get the recall fixed.

Thanks everyone!
