So I'm doing my 60k maintenance and also replacing ALL seals/gaskets and any other wearable parts that haven't been recently replaced. Though the engine may not be in need of it I also plan on changing out the piston rings, main bearings, and rod bearings because I plan on keeping this car for good. I've done so much replacing of parts and everything already that I'm glued to getting my money's worth out if and hopefully I won't need to touch this motor again for another 60k miles if I do this. I'm really just not feeling like fighting with small corners trying to get to these on the back side of the motor because I've done it numerous times before. With the engine out and on a stand I can do whatever I need with no restrictions. I just thought I'd explain myself on WHY I plan on doing this so you guys don't hammer me for wanting to yank a running engine.
Anyhow, it would be really beneficial if you guys could point me to walk-though on the whole process of removing the engine from the top. I already have the front end of the engine torn off as well as the intake assembly and valve covers, so I just need to know what else needs to be done on the bottom side (besides disconnecting the exhaust and unbolting the motor mounts) to get this thing out without damaging anything. Does such a walk-through exist out here? I've searched throughout this forum as well as Google and haven't come across any in-depth threads or notes on removing it.
If possible, can someone please post the steps in removing the engine for me if there's not already a thread out there somewhere that I've missed?? And I keep reading that it's easier to remove the engine WITH the tranny still attached. Why is this so, and how do you remove the CV shafts from the tranny??
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!
