Just picked my 12 up on 12/15 with the dealer installed remote start. No problems other that the open door engine **** feature but that can be programmed out as soon as I can find someone to do it.

Is there a link to the product details of this Ford remote starter system? Such as;
1. Does it replace my current fobs/keys?
2. Distance?
3. Price?

Thanks -

In addition, does anybody have the Code Alarm Car-Link remote starter system installed into their Taurus? Or the Viper Smart-Start system? These are smartphone based remote starter/security system products. I was just curious if anybody has shelled out the $650 for either of the systems and what they thought of them.

I just found out if the Code Alarm Car-Link system is installed, you'll lose one of the fob/keys as it must remain inside the car at all times. I really didn't see a huge problem with that since I already leave a key in the center console all the time right now anyway and just type in a code on the door and push-to-start and drive. Nice to have an app on my iphone to unlock and lock doors though. Especially when I have my kids with me. $29-$35 a year (first year free) to keep the car responding to your smartphone requests is what I was quoted.

The Viper Smart-Start is advertised way better and you don't have to give up a key to my knowledge. Same features as the Code-Alarm but their appears to be a larger following for this unit. $40 a year (first year free again) to subscribe the car to the service, same as above.
