So, WTF is this sound? Its been making it for about.. well, since I've owned the car.. Its the "kooo"

Items on the list that I will hopefully be replacing in the upcoming weeks are:
Ball joints (Obviously not the cause of the noise)
Sway bar links (front and rear) (ALSO obviously not the cause)
Rod bearings
FULL 60k (minus shims.. so, i guess not full.. but damn near close)
and rear suspension if I feel adventurous..

Well.. Im looking forward to finding out. I remember reading that if the timing belt is to tight it puts added stress on the #1 cyl intake bearing.. im hoping its not the tensioner.. that would make me a sad, broke panda.

Why not head to the autostore and buy a stethoscope to pin point where the noise is coming from. It's a lot cheaper than spending money to throw parts at the problem. :)

Or spend an hour tearing it down.

Jackstands, front wheel, belts, crank pulley, timing cover. Then you have your hands and your eyes on the most likely culprits.

Yeah, I agree with both. I'll run to the parts store today and snag a scope because you never know when thats going to come in handy.. Like a little magnet..

And I'm also going to be doing a 60k VERY soon (Hopefully next thursday/friday) so I will have it all apart then to really examine it. If its a crank pulley I know I can replace that later if I have to with no problem, but if its the belt tensioner, I don't have to have to go back that far.. I've cam timed these things enough this summer i don't want to do it again! :p

yep, a stethoscope for sure. I was dealing with similar noise and was able to pin point my problem. I was doing the old shade tree trick of using a long screw driver and putting it up to my ear. Yes it works but the stethoscope was right on.
