As many know I have been struggling to find out what my cars problem was.
I had cleaned the maf, the Iac, and changed the fuel filter. Hoping that it was a little problem. Turns out that my plug wires were SHOT. When I had my valve gaskets replaced he told me it might not be a bad idea to replace the wires as they were cracked and covered in oil, so he used a rubber selent on them. He told me that in the future that I should probably replace them but they would work for the time being, and they did about a week after I got it back from him it started to chug a little and progressivly got worse. So I started posting and was told to try changing them. I put it off because it was more of a process to take off the mainfold than I wanted to do. After 800 miles of this chugging I finally went and got the wires and tonight me and my dad took off the manifold not knowing what we would be getting into.

After taking it off and replacing the wires it turned out not to be that bad. And after all was back together we tookit for a spin.

All I can says is WOW, My dad told me stories of how he loved the 2 gen 1 sho's he had. Since Ive had the car I have not had the true experience of what it is like to drive one. Like my title It is a whole new car and I am amazed in the true power of an sho. I cant wait to drive to work tomorrow and drive it in the daylight. Finally after 2 months it works like it should. (I think)

Thanks to all who had imput to my problem, and as with these cars Im sure something else will go wrong adventually, but until then I am happy it is fixed.

Thanks for all the help,
Kyle

Congrats! After some practice, you'll be able to remove the intake manifold in 30 mins flat! As far as changing your wires goes, you don't really need to remove the intake. Here's what's worked for me....

The front 3....piece of cake!

The back 3....

1) i took off, and left them off for good, the brackets that hold the intake to the rear head. You don't really need them for anything. I left the front ones on b/c i like how they look.

2) got rid of the plastic cover on the firewall. It's been gone for 3 years w/ no problems, in all kinds of weather & driving conditions.

3) Got a REALLY long extention (10 inch) plus another regular extention (6 inch) and got down in there & got er' done!

All this is on my MTX. If you have an ATX, you'll have about 2-3 inches of extra space on the back 3 plugs, as the motor sits farther foward on the AUTO's;)
