After nearly a week of trial and tribulation, tonight I finally finished my cold air intake kit for my 2010. I lost track of hours long ago as I also started to dismantle the front end at nearly the same time. I'm also taking the plunge for us folks with the Ingot Silver and getting my chome painted I hope next week. Like Kirk said, that grill is a major PITA!!! Everything else was fine to remove, but it has been 25 degrees outside with a wind chill that cuts right thru you, so even know my garage was between 60-65, the tabs still needed a little bit of the heat gun to persuade to pop out. And none broke. :woo-hoo: So, here is my list that needs/needed to be done.

1. CAI (done)
2. chome painting (next week, I hope)
3. powdercoat/paint brakes (2-3 weeks)
4. tint front headlights (next week, I hope)
5. SCT (not soon enough, I have 3 on my shelf at work)
6. powdercoat intake/valve covers (who knows)
7. a different trunk badging (next week)
8. paint the lower cladding (when I come into some mo' money)
9. exhaust (when I come into even mo' money)

OK, let me download some pics for those who care to see what my intake looks like. :munch:

Your wait is over there Bob and Bill. Everything was hand made by me, then powdercoated wrinkle finish to appear like stock. The metal I got from a friend who is in the welding business, and I have my own metal brake tools here at home. Instead of welding it up, I used rivets to make the sides attach to the base. My biggest obstacle was the tranny dipstick. For those who do not know, it resembles the oil cap but has a built in dipstick. The previous SHO tranny dipsticks resemble the oil dip stick on the 2010. Oh, and the front casing of the tranny is plastic. Similar to the Toyota timing belt covers. Plus the starter is right on top the motor, to the left of the battery. :nut: I had to give it enough height to bypass that cap though. Anyways, the tube was off my old F-150 intake, and I had spare materials from doing the V-6/V-8 SHO intakes in the past. I have a bunch of various intake parts, K& N filters, AFE filters, Volant parts, etc. here from my Lightnings, previous SHOs, Mustangs, F-250s, etc. so I had a wide array of parts to test fit and see what worked best. It is all 3.5" to help aid the air flow better as well. Couple brackets, nuts & bolts and it is all done. This one was by far harder to craft than the older SHO intakes. And I know many intakes will become available for the SHO and I think Kirk said he was working on some too. It is not perfect by any means, but does help the look under the hood I feel. I should be able to feel a little power out of it, but even if I receive no performance gains at all, I'm liking the way it turned out. Too bad I can't try it out till my car is back together. DOH!! Let me know what you guys think.

Anyway to get rid of that horrible u-turn in the intake?

Yeah, you could run a straight pipe from the stock elbow facing towards the grill, but I chose to make the elbow to allow a larger filter and make use of the box itself. Plus, using what I had here. Doing the straight piece and a smaller box would open up a big space in that corner though.

I haven't heard of anyone putting an aftermarket BOV on these just yet. I'm sure it'll happen soon enough though. :nut:

Here are the parts heading to the paint shop this week. I'm slowly making my way to getting the entire body cladding done, starting with the lower front bumper portion. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Cant wait to see it painted! What color are doing it body color?

Yeah, it's going to be body colored. There's another silver 2010 SHO like mine running around here and on here too, so I now need to differentiate myself from him. :laugh_ti: Won't be long before I have the rest of the bottom panels color matched too.:)

****, dont paint the side panels of the car.. That plastic is not made for paint and it wont last. Even with sanding it down and with the best clading primer its not made to take paint and will pop off as soon as the first rock hits it.

Yep they are pretty good, they are very much the same as a big brand (can remember the name, but after seeing the parts last Feburary I started chaseing the part numbers then. its a good product.

With the CAI you still wont hear the sucking noise or turbo noise, if you have the radio down low enough though you will hear the BOV.

****, idea is a good one! I LOVE the fit and finish! I was going to do the same thing there, but your still getting air from the sunderounding engine compartment, and will get some air from behind the headlight and LF bumper. Only thing with that is that your not getting a direct shot of cooler air.

Mine is the same way for now, I bent the 90 down so the filter is getting air from the factory hole (which is good at speed but it too is a open filter) so it gets warm engine air. The filter im using (holley or S&B) also has a second opening opposite the connection to the intake where I have a hose running down to the front grille area. so it gets some Cold air but mixed with warm. Time time of the year both will work very good and in the hot 90+ days they both will suck in hot air.

Great job ****! The fit and finish looks fantastic!

Yeah, they are new. I'm not letting my K9s ride in this car. Those plates are for my wife's SUV when we get another one.

I was wondering about that too Kirk. Does the MKS have the textured panels too or do you know? I see those have the painted body panels down low.
