Sad, but true. If there is tranny fluid everywhere, the case is now "ventilated". Time to start searching for a new tranny.

Most likly the damage was done before you were cruising at speed, but either way it really really sucks. I have an 89 trans in solid shape if you need one.

Hmm.......

All actions have consequences.

You can use any year SHO transmission - you should be able to pick one up from a junkyard from between $80 and $200, depending on the yard. There are (were, as of 2 weeks ago) 3 SHO's with seemingly good transmissions in one junkyard here that sells them for $79.95, but shipping would probably double that, not to mention the time to actually go out and pull it.

You think it had anything to do with racing the car all night at the drag strip? :D I don't mean to poke fun at you, but you have to expect things like that to happen if you don't have a Quaife in there. Any MTX will work, and you might want to think about installing that Quaife before you bring it to the strip again. Repeatitive (sp?) launches like that put a tremendous amount of stress on the stock diff.

the tow driver used to own a gen 1 w/ the police package and a 93

he felt my pain he said about the tranny going

No Gen SHO came with a Police Package, Gen 1 SLO - yes, Gen 2 SLO - yes, but no SHOs.

Yeah, any tranny will work as stated above, but if you get one from a car that used a cable shifter you'll have to remove the bracket for that. Not hard to do, just a few bolts, but just so you know. ;)

No, but the ATX tranny doesn't suffer from an inherently weak diff like the MTX does. There are one or two custom LSD's for the ATX tranny out there, but an ATX LSD isn't going to improve the longevity of the tranny per se, it's more a matter of the quality of the rebuild and the way you treat your car.

Thanks Chris,

My rebuild was done by the most reputable tranny shop in Fredericton. It has a 1 year warranty parts and labour good anywhere in Canada. Also I don't race the car so it just get s a fair bit of highway driving.

If he thinks that, then don't take it there. Stock SHO's do not have a limited slip...

Ditto what Chris (AutoSHO) said.

And that would be your diff that blew. :frown: Offer is still out there if you need it.
