So I made an account just for the **** of to see what it says. I wasn't impressed. I ran the vehicle health report to see what it might say, if anything, about my misfire/lugging problem. According to my car, there's nothing wrong with it. Does this thing really talk to the PCM and send a report or is it a dealer tool for advertising? Just curious.

I have questioned the same thing it has never relayed to me that anything was wrong even when my engine needed replaced and had misfires on cylinder 4 and 6

no it really does look at codes, etc. to let you know what is wrong. it works well on the Lincolns I know.

Yeah, kinda what I figured. Probably just another way for the dealership to notify you when they want your money, ie, oil change, tune-up, brakes etc. Oh well, it was worth a shot. Still gotta figure out why she's acting a little off. Thanks guys.

No, its not connected to the dealer really, it just interrogates the pcm and then emails you the report to the email addy on file in your Sync account. I don't recall that it even copies the dealer in that message.

You need to initiate it from the Sync system in the car. It'll send the info to the "cloud" and then you can review it on-line.

I haven't done it with my Sync 3 system, but it worked with Sync 2 - beware though, I wonder if the discontinuation of "Sync services" means Sync 2 can no longer dial in and relay the report.

Sync 3 at least can do WiFi - and you'll have to set that up in Sync 3 as well before it'll do anything.

Yeah, I already set it up. It was easy and the information was there pretty quick. My point was that it really had no beneficial information. It ask if you wanted to be notified of catastrophic problems too, which I thought was interesting considering xfallen said it didn't notify him of anything.

Don't know what he did, but you need to physically run the report before it'll report anything ;) I don't think it actually does any polling.

And, I'm sure there's a difference between Sync 2 and 3 - so anyone reading this, report what version you have ...

Yeah, Sync 2, you have to initiate the report, and it'll dial out using your phone and send it. So there's no regular updates unless you initiate it.

I'm not sure how Sync 3 works. Yet.

Pretty sure 3 works the same way. Had to sit in the car to initiate, watched it run the report and dial my phone, then it told me it was finished and report would be available shortly, then it hung up lol. Pretty cool actually, smartest car I've ever owned.

Mine reported that my seatbelt sensor is not working. It is true. I can drive with no seatbelt and it doesn't warn me in anyway. So they do read the codes.

Does yours look like this? See the gear icon by the home icon? If not, you may have a different version. Be21a35e1fa99e30af15a0c357098db7
