I haven't ran it at the strip. I had the exhaust gutted and lost torque which I've gained back with a restictor l=plate. i've got a '93 mtx which is faster but i'd rather drive the '97.

Paul, are you saying that removal of the 3rd cat LOSES torque?

Good point, I was actually thinking about this last night. I was thinking a true dual exhaust should be put on a gen 3 with only 2 cats. I dont understand what the 3rd cat is all about ?

isn't the 3rd cat actually identified as a "muffler" in the manual?

Good grief, someone is looking way back in time.

If I were to do it again I would not remove the third cat. I feel there is a bit of low end HP loss and there is a potential emissions problem for some. And the cat is a very expensive part.

You can get as good of flow by opening up the rear exhaust at the mufflers from the OEM 1.75" to 2.5".

Here's my updated list of mods......

4" air duct cone filter in the fender
3rd cat gone

Yes it was.

As for low end tq loss. I didn't notice much if any. These cars are all weird tho.
