So, I got home a few hours ago from my First Auto-X. Actually, My first track event ever in a fully race prepped SHO none the less.
I'll break this down in to the runs I did.
Run 1
Time: 63.4
I did not know what to expect as I have never really pushed this car on the street. The Idea of finding it's limits were a little intimidating so I tried to take it easy my first run. I took off from the gates and took a lot of the course in 1st (In my SHO, That's about 50 MPH). Bad Idea! Besides the fact that being on and off the throttle so much made the car have a hard time settle for the line I wanted to take, It just slowed things down and made me terribly un-smooth.
Run 2
Time: 57.8
Realizing that my 1st run was a disaster and my idea to just wind out first was just pure idiocy I decided to wind out First before the first turns and shift in to second. I stayed in Second the whole run except for a very slow Turn that required you to downshift back to first. I still was not pushing the car as hard as I could but I had found the line I wanted to take and all around developed a technique for driving the car.
Run 3
Time: 55.5
On this run I had Terry (nc89sho) riding with me. He essentially told me to be smoother on my throttle and brake application and Trust the car to do it's job, So I did. The tires were starting to make some noise, The rear end was getting a little bit loose but it was all very controllable, I was building confidence but was still a tad bit weary of pushing the car any harder. After Terry's ride along he gave me a few more pointers and told me he really thought it was possible to get a near 50 second run on my tires, So - With my line set, My technique in order It was time to start pushing harder.
Run 4
Time: 53.5
On this run, I decided to let the car do it's thing. I entered the first set of S's with a lot more speed, Barely tapped the brakes and took off. The long right hand sweeper that immediately turned you left to line up for a sharp 90 degree right hand turn gave me a lesson in oversteer. I braked Hard, Nailed the throttle when I was done braking and without even realizing it Had the car sideways nearly the whole time. However the car is just so forgiving that I didnt even notice it - I was just concentrating on hauling ass
. A few more turns showed me that this car flat out does not understeer, It does the oppisote when pushed. The rear end would come around and I would correct it without thought. However it did so in such a smooth manner that my time had improved again by 2 seconds. One run left!
Run 5
Time:
Basically the same as Run 4 - The only difference is that I pushed a whole lot harder. I left everything to the car. The rear end did it's fair share of stepping out but as stated earlier it was very controllable, I never once had a "Oh Shit!" moment. It felt very fast and agressive. The tires were near their limit just screaming the whole time (Yokota AVS ES100's). I finished my last run that actually counted with a 50.4. :woo-hoo: That's a improvement of nearly 14 seconds within 5 runs. I was estatic.
Run 6 (Fun run)
Again, I took everything that I did above and did nothing more but push the car as hard as my skill level combined with these tires would let me. I pulled off what I didnt think was possible and posted a 49 Second run.
Run 7 (Fun run)
Another 49 second run. :woo-hoo:
Fun runs with nc89sho running:
After that, I handed the key's off to Terry (nc89sho) who has a ton of experienced driving gutted SHO's with a Quaife and coil overs in Auto-X event's. I was working the course why he ran so I had a great view of him on the course. His first and second run was a little a little slower then my best time as he was remembering how to drive a SHO (Having been used to his 240SX for the longest time). However on his 3rd run, He clicked off a 48.7.
So, With that said I had the fastest time of the day in my class (CP-T). This was my first event ever and I feel like I did pretty damned good. With some fine tuning, Tires and a little more seat I feel I can have a VERY competitive car in CP.

So that's all, Pics and video's to come later.
