I'm confused, with my extrememly rough idle wouldn't I see fuel psi flicker or something? Or a drop if I rev to 3K and held it? My pressure says steady under these conitions, BUT I still have the rough idle?
Thanks for the help, Fred

Fred, I agree that fuel pressure would fluctuate if that was the problem. If it's ignition related I'd try to find someone on the list close by to swap out coil pack or DIS module before sinking money into these parts. As to the moisture on the plugs that also says wires may be affected. If the plug wells are dry you could always swap out someone's wires to test. Most listers are really accommodating. Also are the Bosch plugs double platinum? I've heard bad things about the life span of after market plugs on these cars. If you need Ford parts try Fordpartsnetwork, Torrie always responds quickly and has great oem part prices.

Can anyone tell me the best way to check to see if I have a bad valve in cylinder #5 as the mechanic I brought it to, at first thought wires but now thinks exhaust valve. He did a compression check on #5 and read 120 than it went down to 75 according to him. This car is really getting to be a pain. Wish she had never brought it. Looking for a way to really diagnose it without spending money for this part then that part and so on.
Thanks,Fred

Only use Motorcraft plugs in the SHO. I used other brands and had to replace them within 1 month. part# AGSP32PP

I removed the intake manifold and fired the injectors on cylinders #4,2,5 by jumpering the hot lead of the connector to the injector and grounding the other lead from the injector and having my daughter switch on the key. They all squirted a stream at each intake valve.I installed new plug wires and ohmed out the coil. BTW the battery terminal of the coil is on your left as you look at the connector not like the flexible fuel coil which is on the right. The coil readings are the same as a new coil. I reinstalled the intake maniforld. I have no codes, and the balance test now says only cylinder #2 is bad. Took it for a quick drive and it is better. Came home and did a compression test and all cylinders are 150 psi. I moved the plug from cylinder #2 and the balance test still says #2 cylinder.
Could I have loose connections at the injector connectors, could the computer not fire the #2 injector? any ideas? BTW the plugs in the other cylinders are no longer look like they are running rich, they all look great. Open to any ideas.
Thank You,
Fred

Ok I know this is out of left field, but I was reading this:
Since you had oil in the spark plug wells and now the car is running rougher chances are that you may have shorted a wire or two. This was the case with my car!! Oil in the spark plug wells shorted out two of my wires, which caused my car to run rough. I would recommend that you change plug well seals, plugs $ wires. Car should run fine after that!! For the plugs and wires I'd stick with Ford Motocraft parts. Seals you can use Felpro. Best price I've seen for plugs and wires is from Fordpartsnetwork.com. Good luck!!
and I got to thinking... The cylinder balance test usually won't pick up a weak injector. Ususally the injectorrrrrrrrreerrrdfrrrrrrrcr has to be pretty bad or damn near dead for the balance test to pick it up. Now if the car has a rough idle and it lacks powerm those cylinders could be completely dead and the spark plugs would appear normal. Does this make sense?

Mike,
I'm not sure what you're saying. The other 5 plugs looked great, while the failing cylinder #2 looked funny. Like it was arcing but not burning fuel. No real carbon coating just a very very slight bit at the insulator.Very hard to describe.
Thanks, Fred
