I was wondering what mods my local trans shop could do to beef up the trans to make it more durable and able to handle a little bit of abuse...and also to firm up the shifts...?

What fluid would be good to use in this beast.. I am either having them re-build the one I have or have them completely replace it...

I have read of the drilling of one of the planetary gears to get more fluid to it or what-not...

Treat this as if I am a n00b.

I live in the Everett/Marysville area in Washington State..

There is an Ed's Transmission really close to where I live:

Dana's Transmission (gonna go through these guys for my Bronco trans)

Please learn me something new.... :p

Like besides drilling the planetary, what else should I have the shop do? Dana's seems to be able to do more, at least with my Bronco Trans which uses the E4OD trans, they can add a triple disc Torque converter here:

http://www.partshp.com/Converters.htm

just search the page for "E4OD" and you'll find what I am talking about...

Thanks in advance guys! Much appreciated!

Just walk in and say "I want every upgrade available for the AX4S" Then walk out with a trans that costs 3200 ;).

Firm up shifts? I use the tweecer, bump the tv and or line pressure and you don't have to do a thing to the trans internally. If you ever want it stock again, make it stock or adjsut the shift firmness to your liking. But if you install a shift kit, well thats a done deal for the most part. If you like it, good, if not, well you're screwed unless you pull the trans apart again.
