To try and make this as short as possible, my multifunction switches keep blowing out and I need to replace them with junkyard pieces. While driving down the road if you feel the steering column by the hazard button, it is pretty warm. I have seen smoke at times come out of here just before my low beams stop working. At that point I have to keep the stalk pulled towards me so I can see with the high beams. I have also replaced the headlight switch. The headlight switch connector and the connector into the multifunction switch have both gotten so hot that they have melted slightly. I soldered a new connector onto the two black/red wires in the multifunction switch because I thought it may be a weak link causing it to get hot. I also soldered a new connector onto the one wires at the headlight switch, but I forget what color this wire was. I ohmed out the old multifunction switch, and sure enough, the switch has probably melted inside and has shorted. In case anyone doesn't know, the plug for the lights at the multifunction switch is the straight one with I belive 5 wires coming from it. Any idea what is causing this to get so hot?? I have 2 other SHO's, and neither one of them get hot or even warm for that matter. I am sick and tired of replacing these switches. Thanks for your time.
