Mufflers

Of the commonly available, inexpensive, and no more restrictive than stock, what are generally considered the quietest mufflers? I have some Edelbrock RPMs now and I'm tired of the droning.

Just add bigger resonators into the midpipe. Even a couple of smaller ones to fill the space there. Those are nice mufflers, but they need help from resonators on a V6.

Just some cheap straight-through glasspacks welded in there will do it.

Magnaflow mufflers with the biggest resonator you can fit in there is the general consensus.

What kind of tips do you have on the mufflers? Ive always been told turn down muffler tips were supposed to help with drone, as cheaper alternative to new mufflers.

Yes....a myth.....

Those RPMs are actually pretty nice mufflers IMO. Just need moar resonator.

Just like any other decent muffler on a V6 SHO.

I already went from no resonator, to a 18", and now I have one that extends from the shifter box all the way to the bend in back. No rasp what so ever, but still loud. I really just want to get back to the sleeper / cruiser sound and away from the "why is that old Taurus so loud" sound. Maybe they are shot. I think they were put on the car 10+ years ago.

If you can find them cheap get some Mustang GT take off's Highest Quality, chambered muffler, no drone even with a modest resonator.

With a big resonator, you pretty much have your pick of mufflers.

On my '95 years ago, the PO put on a big resonator with a pair of cheapie glasspacks out back, and it even sounded good!!

Ok I am going to stick my foot in my mouth. I have been thinking on my car. Since the SHO motor is high rpm. What about a motorcycle muffler or 2 since the size of the motor and very rare to see a 3.2 motorcycle motor? Thoughts idea's or a crazy. I will not take any offense. Another reason I thought of it. I had a gutted Triumph muffler on my 74 MG Midget. Maurice

Well, some folks have tried SuperTrapps in the past. IMO, they sound like shyte on anything you put them on......
