Ok I brought my car which has been making this "ticking" noise, which I knew was coming from the transmission in every gear buy 5th, to a transmission shop a couple of weeks ago. They said I have bad bearings in there and the guy I spoke with said it will run between 900 and 1,600, and that I had to call back to talk to their Ford guy for a solid price but haven't yet. I would like to know if I should have them fix it or if I should buy a used one from possibly someone on here and just pay for the labor to have it installed. What do you guys think? I want to get out of this a cheaply as possible but with a solid unit that won't fail again for at least a few years. Thanks guys!

If you aren't willing to upgrade to a Quaife, I'd say just rebuild the one you've got. I had mine rebuilt 4 years ago and have had no problems since. If you don't abuse it, the stock tranny shouldn't give you any problems. 4 years and 60,000 miles on the same clutch and tranny...no problems.

Hi, I see you are from Syracuse. I live in Syracuse as well. What year is your SHO and what color, because I haven't seen you around. I usually hang out in front of Mcdonalds on Saturdays. I have black Gen I with SHO decals. If you see me stop by and we can talk. The thing I would do is try to find nice used trany at the junkyard and put it in. I do all the work on my SHO, never been to mechanic, except to get the inspection done. By the way there is another guy on this forum from Syracuse and his forum name is SLOSHO, he drives silver GEN II. We usualy hangout together on Saturdays.

Yeah I am from the Camillus/Fairmount area in Syracuse. I haven't tried any junkyards, and I'm not sure I want to. I'd rather buy one used from an SHO owner who knows theirs is in great shape or have it rebuilt. I am gonna bring this in by I'd say next Tues at the latest because I obviously want to start driving this bad boy again, and I'm also in a hurry to get it repainted. The body was absolutely mint a year ago until I got rear ended by a guy with no insurance. I have a white 91 ... Let me know if you man know anyone with a tranny, or know of a shop I can deal with who may be inexpensive.

Hey, I am from the area too. I have a Gen II MTX, that I maintain myself. I rebuilt my trans last summer. Shoot me your email, see if we can get together.
